LocationLE MARCHE is still a wonderfully unspoilt area of Italy. Casa Luisa in the so called 'Golden Triangle' area of the southern Marche (between Amandola, Sarnano and San Ginesio). It is a thriving rural area with rolling hills and ancient hilltop towns. We think it is far more stunning than Tuscany and yet is unruined by mass tourism. At the same time there are good shops and great leisure facilities. The property itself is in a unique position surrounded by fields and woods, utterly peaceful and at the end of a country lane with no other houses nearby. Get in the car and it is only 5/10 minutes drive to Sarnano with its shops and restaurants. The 180+ degree views of the Sibillini mountains, the countryside of Le Marche and medieval hilltop villages are breathtaking. Look at the photoalbum on the Holidayinmarche website for great photos of the area. This website also has a good restaurant and shopping guide. The Marche is one of Italy's shoe and leather goods producing areas so if you want some factory priced Tods, this is the place to go. The Sibillini Mountains National Park is a stunningly beautiful and unspoilt territory covering an area of 70,000 hectares, renowned for its rare wild flowers and wildlife - perfect for summer excursions or longer mountain treks for the more serious walker. During the winter months there are nearby facilities for both cross country and downhill skiing. The caves at Frasassi are the largest cave system in Europe and are an absolute must-see. The first cave would easily accomodate a large cathedral and the other caves are a wonderland of unusual and often beautiful calciferous formations |
